Bridging Understanding Between Parents and Teens
Is life with your teen feeling increasingly stressful or unmanageable?
Maybe your teenager seems to have changed overnight—they don’t listen, withdraw from family, or respond with anger. You might feel frustrated, worried, or unsure how to connect.
From the teen’s perspective, parents may feel controlling, overly critical, or difficult to talk to. Your teen may feel misunderstood, pressured, or anxious about expectations.
You’re noticing these challenges are affecting your everyday life::
Family dinners end in tension rather than conversation.
Homework, chores, or routines spark arguments and frustration.
Both you and your teen feel distant, unheard, or disconnected..

That’s where
Youth & Family Therapy can help.
Through a safe, non-judgmental space, teens can explore their feelings and developmental changes, while parents gain insight into their child’s perspective.
Together, the family will:
Understand underlying thoughts, emotions, and needs behind behaviors.
Build healthier communication and stronger relational bonds.
.
Learn practical strategies to support growth, independence, and emotional regulation.
By focusing on empathy, attachment, and developmental understanding, therapy helps families navigate the adolescent years with more connection, patience, and mutual respect.
You and your teen can feel connected, understood, and GOOD ENOUGH—together
Your family doesn’t have to live in constant tension or feel disconnected.
Some questions that you may have...
How can therapy help my teenager?
Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for your teen to explore emotions, build self-awareness, and develop healthy coping skills.
How can I help my teen open up?
You can support them by showing patience, listening without judgment, and reinforcing that therapy is a space to share feelings safely.
How does family therapy support me as a parent?
Therapy isn’t only for your teen—it also supports you. Parent involvement is key to helping change last beyond the session. You’ll gain a clearer understanding of your teen’s developmental needs and emotional world. You will also learn ways to strengthen communication and reduce conflict at home.
Will I be updated about what happens in sessions?
Yes, with your teen’s consent. I work collaboratively with both you and your teen, balancing confidentiality with open communication. The goal is to support healthy dialogue and mutual understanding—not secrets or side-taking.
Will I hear what my teen says in session?
Teens have a confidential space, but we involve parents appropriately through feedback and parent sessions, balancing trust with guidance.
How long are therapy sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Parent or family consultations may last 60–90 minutes, depending on your needs.
